WHY WE DO SECOND CHANCES

A tough beginning doesn’t have to mean a hopeless life.

Not everyone is born into a world that catches you when you fall. Violence, trauma, parents gripped by addiction, absent fathers — these things rob children of the tools they need to thrive as adults. Boys in tough circumstances learn early to do whatever it takes just to stay alive: stealing to have food, selling drugs to keep the lights on, shooting a gun to protect their families. But many young men are eager for the chance to start again. That’s where 4:13 Strong steps in to give them the tools and resources they need to pick up where the world left off.

Our Driving Force

4:13 Strong helps men defy the odds.

We map a clear path forward for men who are willing to push through their discomfort and keep going when everything in them wants to quit. Our 6-8 month residential program gives men a safe home, positive role models and fresh opportunities, greatly improving their chances of succeeding at life.

  • Education & Skills Building

We teach essential life skills, including financial literacy, work readiness and Bible study. We prepare men for a life anchored by a steady job with marketable hard and soft skills that they can tap the rest of their lives.

  • Physical & Mental Health

Our process kicks off with a week of physical and mental conditioning we call “Mental Toughness Week.” From this point through graduation, men are challenged outside of their comfort zones to strengthen them for the demands of a career and fatherhood.

  • Spiritual Life

Our program is a faith-based, living reflection of our namesake scripture, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.” We remind our participants that a strong faith will always be there to encourage them when life gets hard.

  • Family & Fatherhood

We emphasize the importance of family responsibilities. Our primary goals are to break the cycles of poverty, crime and dependency that derailed these men’s pasts and secure a better future for them and their children.

Make an impact with us

None of this happens alone.

Without help, these men may never break free from a life constrained by behaviors learned in survival mode. Every opportunity, every job, every second chance exists because someone chooses to invest. If you believe in dignity, discipline and real transformation, we need you.
